Saudi Arabia, 27 December 2025 The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has strongly condemned the announcement by Israeli authorities recognizing Somaliland region, describing the move as a serious violati on of international law and the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Albudaiwi said the declaration constitutes a dangerous precedent that could undermine the foundations of stability in the Horn of Africa and open the door to further tensions and conflicts, in contradiction with regional and international efforts aimed at strengthening peace and security in the region.
He reaffirmed the position stated in the final communiqué of the GCC Ministerial Council’s 164th session, which emphasized the Gulf states’ full support for Somalia in all matters that uphold its security, stability, sovereignty, and unity, in a manner that ensures a dignified life for its people.

The GCC Secretary-General also called on the international community to reject Israel’s action, warning that it seeks to undermine international legitimacy and impose political faits accomplis contrary to international consensus and United Nations resolutions.
He urged states not to recognize any entities or measures that could destabilize countries or harm their national unity.
