The President stated that the residents have shown a high level of commitment to democratic principles and efforts to ensure free and fair one-person, one-vote elections.
Qoorqoor also praised the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEC) and the national security agencies for their contribution in securing the elections.

NIEC began the voter registration process in Galmudug in July this year. The registration is still ongoing in the districts of the Federal Member State.
The statement was issued as Banadir Region hosted its first one-person, one-vote election in more than 50 years.
However, the opposition has strongly criticized the elections, claiming the exercise has been manipulated by the government.
