Somalia, 2 July 2026 – The European Union said it has concluded consultations in Mogadishu on the implementation of a 75 million euro ($81 million) support package for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The meetings brought together representatives from AUSSOM, the Somali government and international partners to discuss how the financial support should be implemented and prioritized.
In a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, the EU said the consultations were aimed at refining implementation modalities and priority areas for the 75 million euro package, which was previously approved under the European Peace Facility (EPF).
The funding was formally approved in April and is intended to reimburse costs incurred by AUSSOM during 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.
The package is expected to cover troop allowances, non-lethal equipment and operational support linked to the mission.
