France, 4 November 2025 — Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide has described the new Bishoftu International Airport project as one of the country’s flagship mega projects that embody the East African country's ambition to become a leading economic and logistics hub in Africa.
He made the remarks during the EU–Ethiopia Investment Forum held on 3 November 2025 in Paris, which brought together senior government officials, investors, and business leaders from both sides to strengthen economic cooperation and explore new opportunities for joint investment.
A dedicated session at the forum focused on the Bishoftu International Airport project, presented as a key opportunity for partnership between Ethiopia and European companies and as a strategic pillar for developing the aviation and infrastructure sectors in the country.
The forum also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to continue implementing macroeconomic reforms aimed at attracting private investment and deepening the country’s integration into the global economy.
Participants explored investment opportunities in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, digital transformation, and infrastructure development, aligned with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy supporting sustainable growth across Africa.
