Djibouti, December 8, 2025 —The construction of the Egyptian-funded solar power plant, aimed at providing affordable electricity to communities living in Cumär Jaga District, is nearing completion.
Djibouti’s Minister of Energy, Yonis Ali Gedi, and the Egyptian Ambassador to Djibouti, Abd al-Rahman Raafat toured the power plant on Sunday to assess construction progress.
Speaking at the site, Minister Yonis Ali Geedi expressed his appreciation for Egypt's support in advancing Djibouti’s energy infrastructure.
“We greatly thank Egypt for helping us develop our energy infrastructure,” said Minister Gedi. “This solar power plant will significantly improve the quality of life for local communities and contribute to regional development.”

The project, which is set to commence operations soon, is part of ongoing efforts to increase access to clean and renewable energy across the region.
