Djibouti, 16 September 2026 Djibouti and the World Bank will prioritize job creation and energy development under a planned five-year partnership, state media reported.
President Ismail Omar Guelleh received World Bank Vice President Ousmane Dione at the presidential palace on Tuesday during a working visit to the country.
The two sides reviewed ongoing projects and discussed new areas for cooperation, according to the Djiboutian News Agency.
The employment initiative will focus on aligning education and vocational training with the needs of Djibouti's labour market and the wider region.

In the energy sector, the World Bank is expected to support Djibouti's efforts to expand renewable energy use.
Djibouti hopes greater reliance on renewables will reduce foreign currency spent on imported energy and help attract investment.
Economy and Finance Minister Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh and World Bank Resident Representative Fatou Fall also attended the meeting.
The two sides did not disclose the value of the planned support, the specific projects to be financed or when implementation would begin.
