DJIBOUTI (Dawan), 4 August 2026 – Djibouti’s National Police said on Monday that they had dismantled a five-member network accused of robbery, extortion and theft in several areas of Djibouti City, according to the Djibouti News Agency.
The operation, carried out by units from the 6th and 7th Brigades of the Djibouti Police, resulted in the arrest of five suspects believed to be members of an organised group operating in neighbourhoods including Gabode 2, Riyad Market and Arhiba City.
According to preliminary information from security authorities, the suspects allegedly targeted residents in those areas before transferring stolen goods to individuals involved in the resale of stolen property.

During the operation, authorities seized 83 mobile phones of various brands, as well as 385,000 Djiboutian francs and 240,000 Ethiopian birr. The recovered items and money were handed over to judicial authorities.
Police said the five suspects have been referred to court for further legal proceedings.
The operation is part of broader security efforts by Djibouti authorities to combat criminal activities and strengthen public safety in urban neighbourhoods across the country.
