Turkey, 18 April 2026 Djibouti called for stronger global parliamentary cooperation during the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul, according to Djibouti’s state news agency ADI.
The Djiboutian delegation, led by National Assembly Speaker Dileita Mohamed Dileita, is participating in the assembly held from April 15 to 19, where general debates are underway.
In his address on Friday, Dileita called for sustainable institutional reforms and enhanced parliamentary cooperation to address growing global challenges.
“Institutional stability remains a key condition for achieving sustainable development and safeguarding future generations,” he said.

He said Djibouti aims to position itself as a source of stability in a region facing security and political challenges.
The delegation also highlighted social issues including education, youth employment and climate change, and stressed the need for greater parliamentary cooperation to tackle global economic challenges.
Dileita called for increased coordination among parliaments to help build a fairer international order, adding that Djibouti seeks to play an active role globally despite its small size.
The assembly, which concludes on April 19, is being attended by delegations from multiple countries and international organizations.
