PARIS, September 18, 2026 Djibouti and France have agreed to prepare a labour cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the exchange of expertise on employment, training, pensions and social protection, the Djiboutian News Agency (ADI) reported.
Djibouti’s Labour Minister Yonis Ali Guedi and his French counterpart Jean-Pierre Farandou discussed the proposal during a meeting in Paris on Thursday.
Guedi was accompanied by Djibouti’s ambassador to France, Ayeid Mousseid Yahya.
The two ministers agreed in principle to conclude an agreement between their ministries to expand cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise, experience and best practices.
The talks took place as a Djiboutian delegation continued work in Paris on finalising the country’s first social security code.

Experts reviewed the first two sections of the draft code, including its guiding principles and the proposed administrative and financial structure of Djibouti’s social security system.
Discussions also covered oversight, dispute-resolution mechanisms and measures to prevent fraud within the future system.
The Djiboutian delegation visited France’s National Old-Age Insurance Fund to learn about its pension administration and services for insured workers.
ADI did not say when the cooperation agreement would be signed.
