Kenya, January 19 2026 - The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has moved to strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities in national politics with the launch of its first-ever PWD Caucus.
The caucus was formally unveiled on Monday during a strategic meeting at the party headquarters in Nairobi, bringing together representatives from various counties.
Speaking while chairing the session, DCP Secretary-General Hezron Obaga said the initiative reflects the party’s determination to create a more inclusive political space that accommodates all Kenyans.
He stressed that persons with disabilities remain a critical constituency whose voices must be heard and integrated into decision-making structures.
“The party is committed to ensuring that PWDs are not only represented but are also actively involved in shaping policies and programmes,” Mr Obaga said.
He added that the caucus will play a key role in advocating for issues affecting persons with disabilities, mobilizing members at the grassroots, and enhancing their participation in party activities and elections.

According to the party leadership, the new structure will help mainstream disability concerns within DCP and promote equal opportunities in leadership and governance.
Officials said the move demonstrates that DCP is determined to build a truly national party where inclusivity, fairness and equal representation remain central values.
The formation of the caucus is part of ongoing efforts by the party to broaden its support base and encourage participation from marginalized groups across the country.
