Kenya, June 08, 2026 - Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations' (DCI) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested three suspected drug traffickers and seized cannabis sativa valued at approximately Sh6 million during an operation in Mtopanga, Mombasa County.
According to the DCI, the operation was conducted following intelligence reports that led officers to a two-bedroom house in the Mtopanga area that was allegedly being used for drug-related activities.
During the raid, detectives recovered three sacks containing cannabis sativa weighing about 200 kilograms.
The officers also impounded a Honda motorcycle registration number KMGA 080F, which investigators believe was being used to distribute the narcotics.
The suspects were identified as Ruth Ayoo Ouko, Peter Juma Kamito, and Dennis Wandera Okuku.
The three were taken into custody and are currently being processed ahead of their arraignment in court.
"The operation unfolded in Mtopanga Area, in Mombasa County, where detectives acted on a tip-off that led them to a two-bedroom house bustling with illicit activity," the DCI said in a statement.

The recovered cannabis has been retained as evidence as investigations continue.
The latest seizure is part of ongoing efforts by the Anti-Narcotics Unit to disrupt drug trafficking networks operating along the Coast region and other parts of the country.
The DCI said the operation demonstrates its continued commitment to combating narcotics trafficking through intelligence-led operations.
Authorities have intensified anti-drug campaigns in recent years amid concerns over the growing use and distribution of narcotics, particularly in major urban centres and coastal counties.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the source of the drugs and whether additional suspects may be linked to the trafficking network.
