April 27, 2026 - Police have obtained 10 custodial orders to detain Bare Sahara Ahmed, locally known as Siman, who was arrested over the weekend over incitement allegations.
The now-viral video is at the centre of a police investigation, after it captured her allegedly calling for violence against sections of Kenyans. Her remarks have drawn public anger.
The woman, who has declared interest in vying for the ward representative seat in Modogashe, Garissa, is being held at Kilimani Police Station after the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Kahawa Law Courts in Nairobi granted investigators additional time to complete their inquiries.
Police believe the content of the viral video, which is now under investigation, borders on incitement that could provoke ethnic tension and hostility.
Investigators told the court they are still reviewing the original upload, reposts, and engagement patterns to establish how widely the content circulated.
The Kahawa court also authorised police to access and analyse the suspect’s mobile phone data, call logs, financial transactions, and other electronic devices linked to her.
Investigators say the digital review aims to determine whether the TikTok video was an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern of coordinated messaging.
