Mogadishu, (Dawan Africa) – Somalia’s civil society warned that the dispute between the government and the opposition Somali Future Council could turn violent if dialogue is ignored.
The organization said tensions arising from the planned demonstrations could threaten security in Mogadishu and lead to displacement, injuries, loss of life.
In a statement on Wednesday, thethe umbrella body, Somali Non-State Actors (SONSA), said demonstrations are constitutional rights through which citizens can peacefully and lawfully express their views, concerns, and positions.

The group warned against involving security forces in political matters, urging officers to perform their duties professionally and impartially.
The civil society group called on the government and the opposition to prioritize dialogue and a peaceful resolution to the political dispute.
The organization also urged traditional elders, religious scholars, women, youth, and the international community to support the resumption of dialogue between the two sides in order to reach a sustainable solution that safeguards the country’s stability and unity.
