Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Somali opposition leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame on Saturday highlighted the importance of international engagement in Somalia’s electoral process, following the 25th August political agreement between certain members of the National Salvation Forum and the federal government.
Speaking on Miizaan, a political discussion program hosted by Dawan, Warsame said external partners are essential for ensuring transparency, building trust, and supporting inclusive dialogue.

“International actors play a key role in safeguarding credibility and ensuring that the commitments of the 25th August agreement are fully implemented,” he noted.
The remarks come as Somalia prepares to advance its one-person-one-vote system. Warsame called on all Somali political actors to work with international partners to uphold the agreement’s terms, strengthen democratic institutions, and guarantee a fair and inclusive electoral process.
