30 November 2025 - The national government is accelerating transformative development across Wajir and other parts of northern Kenya, with major road projects nearing completion and affordable housing units set to be handed over soon.
This was announced by Principal Secretary for National Government Coordination Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Walmega Council of Elders, PS Ibrahim revealed that key sections of the Modogashe–Mandera road – a critical segment of the larger Isiolo–Mandera highway – are almost finished in Wajir North and other parts of the county, delivering long-awaited connectivity to the region.
He also confirmed that Wajir’s affordable housing project is in its final stages and will shortly provide modern homes, boosting planned urban settlement and improving living standards for residents.
The Principal Secretary praised President William Ruto for appointing leaders from northern Kenya to senior positions, noting that Wajir alone now boasts two Principal Secretaries, several chairpersons of state agencies, and numerous board members within the Kenya Kwanza administration.

This, he said, is a clear sign of greater national inclusion for historically marginalised communities.
PS Ibrahim called on residents to maintain their strong support for the government’s agenda, highlighting the United Democratic Alliance’s recent by-election successes – three parliamentary seats, one Senate seat in Baringo, and seven MCA positions – as evidence of growing public backing.
He concluded that the visible progress in roads, housing, and inclusive leadership demonstrates an unwavering commitment to lifting Wajir and the north, leaving local communities confident in a brighter future.
