Mogadishu – The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) and the United Kingdom discussed strengthening support for the Somali Security Forces and the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), stressing the need for predictable funding for security operations.
The discussions took place during a meeting on Thursday between the Acting Assistant Secretary-General and Head of UNSOS, Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai, and the UK Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King. The meeting focused on ongoing cooperation between the two sides and updates on the Somali Security Forces (SSF) Trust Fund.
The two officials reviewed the logistical and operational support provided by UNSOS to AUSSOM and the Somali Security Forces, which play a critical role in maintaining security across the country and combating armed groups.

Ms. Sadozai thanked the UK Government for its continued contributions to the SSF Trust Fund, which plays an important role in strengthening and developing Somalia’s security institutions.
The UK remains one of Somalia’s key international partners, providing support in the areas of security, state-building, and the development of national security forces.
Both sides also underscored the importance of international cooperation in supporting Somalia’s efforts to enhance security, promote stability, and build capable security institutions that can independently carry out their responsibilities.
