"Despite efforts to destabilize Somalia, substantial progress has been made in securing the country," Erdogan said. "Turkey will continue its support for Somalia, providing effective diplomatic assistance."
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud responded by expressing gratitude for Turkey’s support during "this challenging period."
"As we face challenges to our territorial integrity and sovereignty, the support from Turkey and its people is invaluable," he said. "We are united in our commitment to defend the unity and sovereignty of Somalia."
Erdogan's remarks are part of the growing global opposition to Israel's recognition of Somaliland, reinforcing Somalia’s position that any recognition of Somaliland contradicts international law and the fundamental principles of state sovereignty.
