ANKARA, September 19, 2026 - Turkey on Friday denied reports circulating on social media and in some news outlets that Somalia had imposed visa restrictions on Turkish citizens.
The Turkish presidency’s Center for Countering Disinformation said there had been no change to the conditions governing travel between citizens of the two countries.
“Claims that Somalia has imposed visa restrictions on Turkish citizens clearly constitute manipulation,” the centre said in a statement.
The centre attached a post published on X by Turkish media account Serbest Gazete that claimed Somalia had imposed visa restrictions on Türkiye.

“There has been no change to the existing conditions governing travel between Türkiye and Somalia for citizens of the two countries, and no new restriction or change in the applicable rules has been introduced,” the centre said.
Turkish and Somali citizens remain subject to the reciprocal visa regime currently in force between the two countries, according to the statement.
The centre described the claims as a deliberate disinformation campaign targeting the strategic partnership and longstanding cooperation between Ankara and Mogadishu.
It urged the public to rely on information issued by the relevant official authorities.
