Ethiopia, 25 November 2025 — The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is asking the African Union to convene an urgent meeting of signatory parties of the Pretoria Agreement, accusing the Ethiopian federal government of being hell-bent on violating the peace deal through unwarranted aggression in Tigray region.
In a statement issued following the conclusion of its Central Committee meeting on 22 November, the TPLF said the federal government has been organizing and arming militias inside Tigray and in surrounding areas, describing the alleged activities as a direct breach of the peace accord.
The Central Committee warned that these developments — including recent drone attacks — threaten the fragile stability that followed the end of the war and could lead to a renewed outbreak of violence if not halted immediately.

The statement also accused the federal government of imposing economic pressure on the region by withholding civil servants’ salaries, restricting fuel supplies, and limiting the flow of essential goods and transportation services.
The TPLF said these measures appeared to be “an attempt to push the people of Tigray toward hunger and unrest,” urging the government to lift the restrictions without delay.
The group reiterated its call on the African Union mediation team and countries that sponsored the Pretoria process to take swift action to safeguard the agreement, stressing that it is “more endangered now than at any time since its signing.”
