DJIBOUTI, July 28 2026 – Torrential rains injured several people and damaged homes in southern Djibouti on Monday, tearing roofs off around 100 buildings and cutting electricity in the town of Mouloud, the country's state news agency ADI reported.
No deaths were reported, but several people were injured and taken to the hospital in Dikhil, the regional capital, where they were receiving treatment, ADI said.
The heavy rains caused significant material damage in Mouloud, a locality in Djibouti's Dikhil region. Violent winds ripped the roofs from about 100 homes, while a power outage left the town without electricity.

ADI said it had contacted the chief physician at Dikhil Hospital, who was attending to the emergency and said he would provide further information once the situation allowed.
Authorities had not immediately released the number or condition of those injured, and there was no immediate estimate of the overall cost of the damage.
The Dikhil region in southern Djibouti is periodically affected by heavy seasonal rains that can trigger flash flooding and damage homes and infrastructure.
