Somalia, 26 April 2026 Senior Presidential Advisor Abdullahi Mohamed Nor resigned, citing political tensions in Somalia.
Nor, a former internal security minister, said in a statement posted on his Facebook page that he had formally stepped down from his role as Senior Presidential Advisor, noting that his decision was driven by “the current complex political situation.”
He warned that the prevailing challenges and political impasse could lead to political and security instability, at a time when the country is facing a sensitive transitional period.

Nor also stated that he will soon share his views in detail with the public on possible solutions to the ongoing political crisis, particularly as the term of federal government institutions nears its end.
The mandates of federal institutions are expected to expire on May 15, 2026, marking the end of a four-year term, leaving less than 20 days remaining.
The resignation comes amid growing calls for an inclusive political solution. Federal government officials maintain that their term is five years, following the amendment of the 2012 Provisional Constitution by the federal parliament.
