Somalia, 26 April 2026 Somalia’s ruling Justice and Solidarity Party targets two million members after passing one million, the secretary general told Dawa Media on Sunday.
The party reported 1,032,727 online registrations, with more than 197,000 active members. South West State led regional sign-ups followed by Banadir, Hirshabelle, Galmudug and other areas.
Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, the party’s secretary general, said the milestone reflects strong public support and confidence.
“This shows we have strong public support and trust, and that we can lead one-person, one-vote elections,” Mohamud told Dawa Media.
He said the party aims to increase its membership in all regions and play a leading role in Somalia’s planned universal suffrage elections.
