Somalia, 3 November 2025 — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has traveled to Tanzania to attend the inauguration of Samia Suluhu Hassan, who was recently re-elected President of the East African nation.
President Mohamud had previously congratulated Samia Suluhu on her re-election, tweeting:
" I extend warm congratulations to H.E. SuluhuSamia on her re-election as President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Her victory reflects the trust and confidence of the Tanzanian people. Somalia looks forward to deepening our brotherly ties and advancing regional peace and prosperity.”
Somali President is among regional and international dignitaries invited to the ceremony and was one of the first heads of state to send congratulatory messages.
President Samia Suluhu won 98 per cent of the votes in Wednesday’s election, according to the Tanzanian Electoral Commission. Although her re-election prompted some protests in parts of the country, the inauguration ceremony is scheduled to proceed as planned today.
