CAIRO, September 14, 2026 Somalia is seeking to strengthen cooperation with Arab countries on job creation, skills development and social protection as the 52nd Arab Labour Conference opened in Cairo on Sunday.
Somalia’s delegation is led by Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Prof. Salim Alio Ibro. Somalia’s ambassador to Egypt, Ali Abdi Aware, also attended the opening ceremony.
The conference has brought together representatives of Arab governments, employers and labour organisations to discuss challenges facing labour markets and policies aimed at expanding employment opportunities.
Discussions are also focusing on developing workforce skills, strengthening social protection systems and safeguarding workers’ rights.
