Somalia, 25 December 2025 The Government of Somalia has strongly rejected Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland as an independent state, describing it as a violation of Somalia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
A press statement issued after a special cabinet meeting today reaffirmed that Somaliland is an inseparable part of Somalia’s sovereign territory.
The statement warned that Somalia will not permit the establishment of any foreign military bases or agreements on its territory, which could lead to external conflicts or bring regional instability.

The statement also urged the Somali people to remain united in defending their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It concluded by warning that Israel’s actions, recognizing Somaliland, could undermine regional peace and security, exacerbating political tensions in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the Middle East, and the wider region.
