Mogadishu, 20 September 2026 Somalia's House of the People has approved two new members of the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Committee.
The newly approved members are Yasin Mohamed Mahmoud and Abdikadir Ali Moallim.
The two nominees will fill seats that became vacant following the departure of former committee members Mohamed Hassan Idris and Ahmed Mahmoud Jama.
The nominations were presented to parliament by Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hassan Maalim Mohamud.

The minister said filling the vacant positions was necessary to enable the committee to continue carrying out its constitutional review and implementation duties.
During the vote, 124 lawmakers voted in favor of approving the two nominees, while 21 voted against. Two lawmakers abstained.
A total of 147 lawmakers were present for the vote, according to parliament.
The approval brings the committee's membership to full capacity after two seats had remained vacant.
