Kenya, July 2, 2026 - Senior officials from Somalia's public and private sectors have completed an Executive Leadership Programme at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), with leaders from both Kenya and Somalia describing the training as a key step toward strengthening institutions and accelerating Somalia's reconstruction efforts.
The programme, organised by the Kenya School of Government in partnership with Somalia's Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing, concluded at KSG's Lower Kabete campus.
The training was officially closed by Somalia's Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle,alongside the Director General of Somalia's Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing, Farah Abdinoor Ahmed.
The programme was conducted under the theme, “Leading the Transformation of Economic Infrastructure, Urban Development and Strengthening Public Institutions," and brought together senior officials from Somalia's government institutions and the private sector.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Ambassador Abdulle urged participants to apply the leadership knowledge and skills acquired during the programme to strengthen Somalia's public institutions and support the country's ongoing reconstruction agenda.
He said the initiative demonstrates the strong bilateral ties between Somalia and Kenya, noting that investment in leadership is an investment in a more stable, prosperous and resilient future for both countries and the wider region.
"The programme once again reflects the close friendship and cooperation between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Kenya. When we invest in leadership, we build a stronger, more prosperous and stable future that benefits both our nations and the region," the ambassador said.
He also thanked the Kenya School of Government's management, lecturers and staff for their professionalism, warm hospitality and commitment to delivering quality leadership training.
Director General Farah Abdinoor Ahmed reaffirmed the Somali government's commitment to strengthening the capacity of public servants, particularly within the Ministry of Public Works, saying continuous professional development is critical to delivering efficient, transparent and accountable public services.
He noted that the ministry continues to play a central role in developing resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable urban development and strengthening institutions as Somalia advances its recovery and development agenda.
Representing KSG Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed ,Senior Director for Finance and Administration **Dr. Tom Wanyama described leadership as the foundation of national transformation.
Dr. Wanyama reaffirmed the Kenya School of Government's commitment to supporting public sector capacity development across the region through executive training programmes designed to equip leaders with modern governance and management skills.
The programme is part of the growing cooperation between Kenya and Somalia in public sector capacity building, with both countries seeking to strengthen governance, institutional effectiveness and regional collaboration in support of sustainable development.
