Somalia, 17 October 2025 (Dawan Africa) — The Federal Government of Somalia has published a list of 71 travel agencies authorized to organize Hajj services for next year’s pilgrimage, as part of new measures to strengthen regulation and protect Somali pilgrims.
The announcement, made today by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, follows months of coordination with Saudi authorities and Somali travel operators to streamline visa processing, transport logistics, and accommodation for pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah.
According to the Ministry, all 71 companies were vetted and licensed under a new system designed to ensure compliance with safety, financial, and ethical standards. Officials said the move aims to eliminate unregulated operators that have in the past exploited pilgrims or delivered poor-quality services.
“Only the agencies listed and published by the Ministry are authorized to provide Hajj services this year,” the statement read. “Pilgrims are strongly advised not to deal with any individuals or companies lacking official authorization.”
The Ministry set November 2025 as the final deadline for pilgrims to complete all payments, including travel and accommodation fees.
Additionally, the Ministry directed all Somali pilgrims to depart only through the designated airports in Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Garowe, and Bosaso, in coordination with the approved service providers.
While the official Hajj cost remains fixed at $4,543.5 per pilgrim, the Ministry emphasized that all licensed agencies must strictly adhere to the approved rate and avoid any hidden or additional charges.
The Ministry also warned that any unauthorized operators found offering or advertising Hajj services will face legal action.
