Somalia, 15 October 2025 — The National Communications Authority (NCA) yesterday launched a training programme on Digital Regulation and Technological Transformation in Mogadishu.
The second-level training is organized in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and with the support of the Digital Regulatory Academy (DRA) of Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST). The three-day training will conclude tomorrow.
The workshop brings together officials from the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Ministry of Communications and Technology (MoCT) to discuss practical approaches for advancing digital governance that is inclusive, secure, and aligned with global technological trends.
According to the NCA, the training aims to strengthen Somalia’s ability to design and implement digital regulatory frameworks that comply with international standards.
Somalia’s relatively easier internet access compared to some African countries underscores the urgent need for robust digital regulations and technological transformation. As the country’s digital systems continue to expand, there is a growing need to establish legal and institutional frameworks that ensure all citizens have access to safe, reliable, and inclusive technology services.
Digital laws and regulatory enforcement are essential for Somalia to manage emerging technologies — ranging from mobile money services to digital identification systems — in a secure and transparent manner.
Somalia’s digital transformation is viewed as a strategic priority for expanding financial inclusion and improving social services, while ensuring compliance with international standards of digital governance.
