Somalia, July 7 2026 – Somalia on Tuesday strongly condemned terrorist attacks targeting the Syrian capital, Damascus, calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable under the law.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Somalia denounced the violence and reaffirmed its opposition to terrorism in all forms.
“Somalia condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks targeting Damascus,” the statement read. “We reaffirm our commitment to international cooperation in combating terrorism and promoting peace, security, and stability.”

The Somali government expressed solidarity with the Syrian people and authorities, extending condolences to the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured. Officials also called for the full enforcement of the law against anyone responsible for carrying out the attacks.
The statement said acts of terrorism threaten global peace and security, and that international collaboration is essential to bring perpetrators to justice.
The attacks, which targeted areas near the Syrian Ministry of Tourism, injured at least 18 people, including four police officers, during a disposal operation of two homemade explosive devices, the Syrian Interior Ministry reported.
