Somalia, 29 April 2026 Somalia’s national education curriculum faces an overhaul after a committee was appointed to implement the February education conference recommendations, the ministry said Wednesday.
The 15-member committee will be chaired by Mohamed Abdulkadir Noor, with Abdullahi Ahmed Bariise serving as deputy chair, according to a ministry statement.
Daud Mohamed Makaraan has been appointed as secretary of the committee, the statement said.
The ministry said the committee will play a key role in reviewing and improving the national curriculum, particularly for grades 1 to 12.

It will also work closely with federal and state-level education authorities, as well as education partners, to enhance the quality of the curriculum, according to the statement.
The appointment follows the National Education Curriculum Review Conference held from February 8 to 12 this year.
