Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Somalia’s Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation has announced Today the rollout of a new digital civil registration service in 19 districts across the country, covering births, marriages, divorces, and deaths.
The ministry said the system is part of a broader plan to modernize civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS), aimed at making it easier for citizens to obtain official documents and address long-standing challenges in verifying birth, marriage, and death records.
“Our country has today launched a unified digital civil registration service, which will help resolve the difficulties people face in obtaining proof of birth, marriage, divorce, and death,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the first phase of the service is operational in districts across Jubaland, South West State, Hirshabele, Galmudug, and the North East State, including Abudwaq, Adado, Dusamareb, Galkacyo, Balcad, Warshek, Buloburde, Baladweyne, Jowhar, Afmadow, Bulo Hawo, Dobley, Garbaharey, Kismayo, Barawe, Dinsor, Wajid, Hudur, and Lasanood.
