Somalia, April 5, 2026 - Somalia and Sudan have signed a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic passport holders, aiming to boost bilateral ties, the Somali foreign ministry announced Saturday.
The deal was finalized during the second session of the Somalia-Sudan Political Consultation Committee held in Mogadishu.
"The agreement marks a key step in strengthening bilateral relations and facilitating closer diplomatic engagement between the two countries," the ministry said in a statement.

The session was co-chaired by the Permanent Secretary of Somalia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hamza Adan Haadow, and Undersecretary of Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid.
The officials also discussed expanding cooperation in the economic, educational, and capacity-building sectors. They also pledged enhanced coordination on regional and international issues.
The move comes as Somalia continues to rebuild its international standing and strengthen partnerships across the Continent.
