Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, in Mogadishu today to discuss military and security cooperation. The meeting focused primarily on the Somali National Army's (SNA) progress in countering Al-Shabaab and the ongoing transition of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
While China has not been directly involved in Somalia’s counter-terrorism efforts, the discussions highlighted potential areas for collaboration, prompting analysts to wonder how China could contribute to Somalia’s military objectives, given its focus on peacekeeping and non-combat support roles in global security.
