Ethiopia, 12 May 2026 Somali Regional State signed a $1.39 million agreement to construct a maternal and child care centre to boost healthcare services in Fiiq district, authorities said.
The agreement was signed by the Head of the Somali Regional State Health Bureau, Dr. Muse Ahmed Ibrahim, and the Deputy Manager of the Somali Construction Corporation, Abdi Mohamed Gama’adid.
The health bureau said the centre will play an important role in improving the quality of health services, with particular focus on mothers, children and newborns who require regular medical care.
The centre is expected to reduce pressure on existing health services in the area and make medical care more accessible to families living in Fiiq and surrounding rural areas.
