Egypt, 1 November 2025 - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the National Museum of Egyptian Culture and History, set for Sunday.
President Hassan and his entourage were received by senior Egyptian officials upon arrival in Cairo.
The delegation will attend the opening of the grand museum built in the historic city of Fustat, on the outskirts of Cairo.
The museum is set to become the largest cultural institution showcasing Egypt’s history from ancient times to the modern era, housing more than 50,000 historical artifacts.
Dignitaries from other African countries and Arab nations, are also expected in Cairo.
Accompanying the President are Somalia’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Education, alongside other senior government officials.
The delegation will also hold meetings with Egyptian authorities to discuss bilateral cooperation, including Egypt’s role in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The opening of the museum highlights Egypt’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage and strengthening its tourism and global cultural influence.
The historical venue blends ancient legacy with modern development, symbolizing Egypt’s enduring civilization and its continued evolution into a modern cultural hub.
