Somalia, 5 May 2026 Somali legislator Fardowsa Osman Egal, resigned from the ruling Justice and Solidarity Party, she said in a statement on Facebook Monday.
Egal, who previously served as the party’s Secretary for Petroleum and Minerals, did not provide further details on the reasons behind her decision.
“I, MP Fardowsa Osman Egal, have resigned from the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP), where I served as Secretary for Petroleum and Minerals,” she said in the statement.

Egal, who represents Puntland in the House of the People, has previously served as Somalia’s Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation.
She was also among a group of lawmakers who earlier accused the federal government of restricting their travel during the constitutional amendment process.Her resignation comes amid earlier departures by some members, who cited various reasons for leaving.
The Justice and Solidarity Party, led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is one of Somalia’s main political parties.
