Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – A facility reportedly used by Al-Shabaab to treat wounded fighters and coordinate attacks was destroyed on Friday morning during a local security operation led by Mawisley forces in Moora Godan, approximately 5 kilometers north of Raga Ellle in the Middle Shabelle region.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence on July 4, the site was specifically targeted. “The Mawisley forces inflicted heavy losses on the militants at this site, destroying their hideout and weakening their ability to threaten the local population,” the Ministry claimed.
The statement also noted that reinforcements from the Somali National Army (SNA) were dispatched to support the operation. “The Somali National Army and community forces will continue operations against the Khawarij to ensure the security, peace, and safety of all citizens,” it added.
No independent verification of the reported damage or casualties has been made available. Al-Shabaab has neither confirmed nor denied the government’s claims.
