Somalia, 18 November 2025 — Somali Security Forces have killed at least 11 Al-Shabab fighters and seized illegal weapons in coordinated security operations against the group in central and southern Somalia.A statement issued by the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday said, Ma’awisley community fighters in Harardheere District conducted a planned overnight raid in Dumaaye village, Mudug region, targeting militants hiding in the area. The ministry said six fighters were killed and several weapons were recovered, including four AK-47 rifles and other equipment allegedly used to threaten civilians. In a separate incident near Dabagalo, about 35 km north-west of Harardheere, the Somali National Army (SNA) said it disrupted a suicide attack attempt. Military officials said SNA troops “thwarted the group’s efforts to destabilize security in the area.”A third operation took place along the Garasweyne–Moragabey route, roughly 37 km west of Huddur in Bakool, where government units engaged another Al-Shabaab cell. The ministry said five militants were killed, including several “key commanders,” and two AK-47 rifles were recovered. The ministry identified three of the commanders killed in Bakool as Ibrahim Aliyow Mohamed Mo’alin, Aadan Mohamed Same and Abdullahi Aadan Dhere. The Ministry of Defence said the latest operations reflect ongoing efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab’s remaining networks.“The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to sustaining offensive operations until the Somali people can live under conditions of lasting peace, stability and security,” the statement added.
