Kenya, April 24, 2026 - Sameer Africa has applied for an Electric Power Generation and Retail License to support the installation of a solar project at its Enterprise Road complex in Nairobi.
The company said the project will involve the installation of a 4 MVA self-consumption solar system at the complex.
The company noted that the project is designed to cater only to on-site electricity needs, without exporting power to the national grid.
Residents surrounding the complex have been assured that the project will not have any adverse effects on them.
The company confirmed that it will submit its application to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on April 30, pursuant to Section 119(3) of the Energy Act, 2019.
“The grant of the license will NOT have any adverse effects on any public or local authorities, companies, persons, or bodies of persons within the areas of the undertaking,” the company stated.
“A copy of the application (subject to confidentiality considerations) will be available (once lodged) for inspection by the public at the registered office of the applicant,” it added.
Sameer Africa PLC is a Kenyan real estate investment company with over 750,000 square feet of lettable industrial space, including EPZ facilities.

The company predominantly generates revenue by leasing commercial and industrial properties within Nairobi while maintaining a presence in the tyre distribution market.
Members of the public, as well as other entities interested in making representations or objections to the application, have been encouraged to do so in writing to EPRA within the next 30 days.
The objections should be clearly marked as “Electric Power License Objection,” with a copy of the representation also forwarded to the applicant.
Many companies are transitioning to solar energy due to several factors, including cost savings and long-term financial stability.
With the cost of solar panel technology decreasing by over 70 percent in the last decade, it has become an increasingly attractive investment for reducing operating expenses.
