Djibouti, 12 October 2025 — Salaam Bank is constructing 20 new commercial premises in the Ali-Sabieh region to enhance trade in Southern Djibouti.
The project was officially launched with a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, according to the Djibouti News Agency.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Decentralization of Djibouti, the Governor of Ali-Sabieh, Abdulmalik Mohamed Banoita, the Head of the Sub-Region, Sharmarke Hassan Allaleh, and the General Manager of Salaam Bank, Jama Hersi Abdi.
The project is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the local economy by supporting small businesses and community-level commercial ventures.
Sharmarke Hassan Allaleh, Governor of Ali-Sabieh, described the project as a partnership between the region and Salaam Bank.
“We decided to provide Ali-Sabieh with permanent assets that will be beneficial for the future. This initiative is part of Djibouti’s policy, which has now been implemented. Salaam Bank has supported us in this effort,” he said.
Regional officials emphasized that the new premises will provide entrepreneurs and artisans with better conditions to establish and grow their businesses, while also contributing to job creation and enhancing the city’s appeal.
Jama Hersi Abdi, General Manager of Salaam Bank, added, “The trust between Salaam Bank and the people of Ali-Sabieh did not start today. It has been built over many years, forming a strong foundation. What we are doing now is a continuation and improvement of previous efforts, and it will not be reversed.”
Details regarding the types of businesses, costs involved, and the project’s completion timeline have not been disclosed by Djibouti.
Salaam Bank has previously participated in various social and economic initiatives and reaffirms its commitment to regional development through targeted public-private partnerships.
