Jigjiga (Dawan Africa) The ruling Prosperity Party intensified campaigning in Ethiopia’s Somali region, wit officials holding rallies and public meetings across various districts.
Reports broadcast by SRTV Somali show that the party’s campaign is taking place in several areas, including Shabelle, Afdheer, Faafan and other zones. Prosperity Party candidates have held meetings with supporters, traditional elders, district administrations and different sections of the community, presenting the party’s achievements and development pledges they say they want to continue.
The campaign has also been combined with the inauguration and showcasing of development projects, particularly public services such as water, roads and basic infrastructure. For example, a major water supply project was opened in Baarey district in Afdheer zone, reportedly costing 357 million birr, equivalent to $2.28 million. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Somali Regional State, the Prosperity Party and organizations including UNICEF.
Party officials have used their campaign messages to emphasize that projects implemented in the region are part of the current administration’s achievements. They have also urged communities to protect the infrastructure built in their areas and support the continuation of development plans.

Politically, the Prosperity Party’s campaign appears to combine two messages: an electoral message aimed at securing voter support, and a development-focused message highlighting services and projects the government says it has delivered.
Regional media has also reported that party candidates have campaigned in districts including Iimay-bari, Mustaxiil, Goljano, Shaygoosh and Xarshin.
Overall, these activities indicate that the Prosperity Party is widely preparing for the election expected to take place in the region in June, as it seeks to strengthen its support across different areas of the Somali Regional State.
