Somalia, 20 November 2025 - Residents of Wajir County are breathing a sigh of relief after the manager of the local Huduma Centre, Mr Hussein Abdirahman Mohamed, who vanished more than four months ago, was on Thursday located alive in Dobley, Somalia.
Mr Mohamed disappeared on 8 July 2025, shortly after attending an official event in Wajir graced by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Ruku.
His disappearance under unclear circumstances triggered widespread concern across the county and left colleagues and family members grappling with uncertainty.
The civil servant was found in a visibly frail state, appearing weak and traumatised after his lengthy ordeal.
He has since been reunited with his family, who went to pick him up in Dobley.
Mr Abdi Wahab, who is his paternal uncle said family members when they heard that he had resurfaced, they travelled from Wajir to Dadajabula in Wajir South - some 177 kilometres - which borders Dobley, Somalia.
"There, our son recorded statements with Jubaland police and Kenya police officers also took statements before he was officially handed to the family," Mr Wahab told Dawan Africa via phone call.

The family has requested privacy while he receives urgent medical attention.
From Dadajabula in Wajir South to Wajir town, the journey takes some three hours, meaning that they will arrive home in the night, with the family expected to give further updates on what transpired.
Throughout Wajir, Mr Mohamed is widely regarded as a dedicated and principled public servant who earned respect for his integrity and commitment to serving the community.
His unexplained disappearance in July had caused profound distress among relatives, co-workers, and residents alike.
News of his resurfacing while still alive brings an end to months of anxious waiting and unanswered questions.
