Somalua, 27 April 2026 President Said Abdullahi Deni laid the foundation stone for a new Puntland State Bank branch in Badhan district to enhance access to financial services in Sanaag region.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including First Deputy Speaker of the Puntland House of Representatives, Mohamed Baari Shire, Puntland cabinet members, bank officials, security officers, and regional and district authorities.
Officials said the new bank facility is expected to improve access to financial services, boost the local economy, and strengthen government presence in the region.

Deni, who is on a working visit to Badhan, also met with traditional elders, including Sultan Said Sultan Abdulsalam Sultan Mohamud Ali Shire, to discuss security and development in the area.
During his visit, the president is also expected to inaugurate additional projects in the district, including a newly built police station, according to informed sources.
