Somalia, 23 November 2025 — Puntland security forces said an airstrike carried out with support from U.S. partners killed at least five ISIS fighters who were attempting to flee the Barakalah area of the Baalade Valley in the Al Miskad mountain range.
The security forces said on Saturday that the strike targeted militants moving through the remote terrain as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations against ISIS-linked elements in the region.

The strike was attributed by Puntland authorities to cooperation with U.S. forces, however the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) has not yet issued any statement or confirmation regarding its involvement.
In a separate operation, Puntland authorities announced the arrest of an individual described as the head of ISIS’s GPS navigation systems. The suspect, identified as Moroccan national Abdirihiin Ibn Borosa, was captured while attempting to escape, security forces said.
