Kenya, 7 May 2026 - Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has issued a sharp and defiant political message aimed at Kenya’s opposition, insisting that President William Ruto remains firmly on course to win re-election in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at a public gathering in Rift Valley, Sudi dismissed recent opposition criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration as “empty rhetoric” and “politics of insults,” arguing that it lacked substantive policy alternatives. He said the opposition had failed to articulate a credible development agenda that could rival the government’s ongoing economic and social programmes.
“The opposition thrives on rhetoric while President Ruto thrives on policy and pragmatic leadership,” Sudi said.
“We are asking them to tell us what best alternative solutions they have for this country other than insults, abuse and empty rhetoric to derail the government’s social, economic and political transformation agenda.”
Sudi framed the 2027 contest as a referendum on delivery rather than personality politics, urging Kenyans to assess the government’s record in infrastructure and economic reform. He pointed to ongoing investments in roads, energy expansion, water projects, health sector reforms and agricultural subsidies as evidence of what he termed “visible transformation on the ground.”
He particularly highlighted the government’s subsidised fertiliser programme, saying it had helped reduce production costs for farmers and increase agricultural output. According to Sudi, such interventions are intended to raise incomes per capita and stimulate broader economic growth.
Political analysts note that Sudi’s remarks reflect an increasingly combative posture within sections of the ruling coalition as early political positioning for 2027 begins to take shape. His comments also underscore the administration’s strategy of anchoring its re-election narrative on development performance and economic delivery.
However, critics argue that the government continues to face significant public scrutiny over the cost of living, taxation policies and employment challenges, and issues that opposition leaders have consistently used to challenge its record.
Sudi adopted a more confrontational tone, directly challenging opposition leaders’ confidence ahead of the next election.
“To the Opposition, are you really sure Ruto will be a one-term president? We shall see. We still have 16 months remaining. You will be very surprised — and when that time comes, don’t start crying that the election has been rigged. Get used to Ruto until 2032. He is a focused and visionary leader,” he said.

The remarks are likely to fuel further political debate as Kenya’s political landscape gradually shifts toward early election positioning, with both government and opposition camps seeking to shape the narrative ahead of 2027.
According to a political scientist Dancun Ojwang Odhiambo, Sudi may be overlooked by some people but he makes sense in his statements.
He claimed that issues that Sudi is marketing that the government has done under Ruto watch across all sectors is true, from affordable housing, primary health care programs, to roads.
Although some may not yet be complete, they are visibly on course showing a regime ready to work and even deliver more, negative rhetoric trashed.
"Of course, there are few challenges noticed that we all know. But by analysis Ruto is trying his best to fix problems affecting Kenyans. He may not be 100% but at 60 to 70% or more... he is trending well,"Ojwang said.
"Let's support him. There is still time to do more than engage in hate and scorn mongering. No. Let's give credit where due and offer alternative constructive criticism and solutions not blanket condemnations for political expediency. No. Let's support Ruto to build for us Kenya. And he is doing. Kenya is structurally changing, from coast to Nairobi, Eldoret to Kisumu. The affordable housing projects is revolutionalising Kenya structural and aesthetic look. It's not a myth. It's a fact. Drive round and see. It's not empty rehtorics."
This is what many people supporting UDA across the country are also saying. Ruto is building Kenya.
