Kenya, 2 August 2026 - Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday intensified his campaigns against President William Ruto's administration, taking his "liberation" crusade to Nyandarua County and declaring that Kenyans have a "date with destiny" at the 2027 General Election.
Addressing thousands of supporters during a series of stopovers in Kinangop Constituency, Gachagua accused the Kenya Kwanza government of plundering public resources, suppressing dissent and failing to protect the country's youth, while positioning his party as the vehicle for political change.
Speaking in Mutonyora, he likened the opposition's campaign to Kenya's struggle for independence, saying the country was now fighting what he termed "black supremacy" instead of colonial oppression.
"Our forefathers fought against white supremacy over 60 years ago. Today, we must reject black supremacy by leaders who are looting our country, destroying the economy and ordering that our children be shot," Gachagua told supporters.
He urged residents to rally behind DCP ahead of the August 10, 2027 General Election, saying the poll would determine Kenya's future.
"We have a date with destiny on August 10, 2027 to save Kinangop and to save Kenya," he declared.
In a hard-hitting attack on political rivals, the former Deputy President vowed to publicly expose leaders he accused of betraying the people, saying no individual would be spared regardless of their political influence.
"We shall call out despots, traitors, liars and looters by their full names. If you are a traitor, we shall come to your village and tell your people who you are," he said.
The DCP leader made additional stops at Kwa Haraka Shopping Centre, Njambini, Engineer, Ndunyu Njeru and Murungaru, where he maintained that the opposition movement was rapidly gaining momentum across the country.

He said DCP was building a people-centred political movement founded on listening to ordinary Kenyans, arguing that successive governments had ignored citizens' voices.
"For far too long, Kenyans have remained unheard. Moving forward, the people must be heard and they must have a stake in leadership," he said.
Gachagua also called for national unity, saying betrayal of any Kenyan amounted to betrayal of the entire country.
"Kenya must remain united. Any betrayal against any Kenyan, whether by an elected leader or otherwise, must be rejected completely," he said.
The former Deputy President had earlier attended Holy Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church in Murungaru.
His Nyandarua visit forms part of DCP's nationwide mobilization drive as the opposition steps up campaigns to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Gachagua seeking to strengthen his influence in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region while expanding the party's national footprint.
