Somalia, 16 June 2026 – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation condemned the opening of Somaliland embassy in Jerusalem, saying the move was illegal and violated the United Nations Charter.
In a statement issued in Jeddah on Monday, the OIC General Secretariat described Jerusalem as occupied and said Israel had no sovereignty over the city.
The organisation said any decisions or measures aimed at changing Jerusalem’s political, legal or demographic status were “null and void” under international law.

The OIC also reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It called on the international community to take a firm position against the embassy opening and to oppose the move.
The statement came after Somaliland said it had opened an embassy in Jerusalem during President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro’s official visit to Israel.
