Hiiraan (Dawan Africa) – On Sunday night, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) conducted a planned operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Buulo-Xoog village, located under Buq-Aqable in the Hiiraan region. NISA reported that the operation resulted in the killing of 7 Al-Shabaab fighters and the destruction of two weapons-laden trucks.
According to a statement from NISA, the operation was carried out after long-term surveillance, and it took place while the militants were returning from the Shaw area in Hiiraan.
“The operation concluded with the elimination of vehicles, weapons, and militants at the site,” the NISA statement read.
Additionally, NISA indicated that it has obtained video footage of the operation, which will soon be shared with the public to provide further details.
While the agency claimed success in the operation, independent verification of casualties and damage is still pending.
This operation follows Al-Shabaab’s recent control of Moqokori, a strategic base in the wider Hiiraan region, where insurgents have been consolidating their position.
