Kenya, 6 January 2026 - Nigeria booked their Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final berth with a resounding 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Monday, showcasing the Super Eagles’ attacking prowess and their intentions in the tournament.
The Super Eagles took control early and never looked back, dominating possession and carving out quality opportunities from the outset. Their attacking intent paid off in the 20th minute when Ademola Lookman opened the scoring with a well-placed finish from inside the box, assisting Nigeria to an early lead and setting the tone for a commanding performance.
Just five minutes later, Nigeria doubled their advantage. Victor Osimhen latched on to a precise pass and finished from close range, beating the Mozambique keeper and making it 2-0 before half-time. The Super Eagles continued to press after the break, and Osimhen struck again in the 47th minute, showing his predatory instincts to extend the lead and underline Nigeria’s attacking threat.
Nigeria’s fourth goal came in the 75th minute, when Akor Adams powered home a brilliant strike following a swift break that sliced through the Mozambique defence. The goal completed the emphatic win and sent the Nigerian fans into celebration, as the team comfortably advanced to the quarter-final stage.

The result highlighted Nigeria’s attacking depth, with Lookman, Osimhen and Adams all finding the net in a dominant display. For Mozambique, reaching the knockout stage was historic, but they were unable to contain the Super Eagles’ firepower on the day.
Following this victory, Nigeria will face the winner of the Algeria vs DR Congo last-16 match in the quarter-finals on 10 January 2026 in Marrakech, giving the Super Eagles a chance to continue their pursuit of a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title.
Final score at Fès was Nigeria 4, Mozambique 0, as the Super Eagles cruised into the last eight with authority.
